Biography

Zu Hause im Blues, Country und Folk spannt der Singer/Songwriter seinen musikalischen Bogen zwischen impulsivem Fingerstyle, untermalt von Mundharmonika oder Didgeridoo bis hin zu melodischen Balladen über das Leben, die Liebe und sozialkritische Themen der Gesellschaft. Der Salzburger Gitarrist kreiert mit seinem Fingerpicking- und Slide-Stil sphärische Klänge und erdige Grooves, die an das Organische der Natur erinnern und direkt aus dem pulsierenden Kreislauf des Lebens zu kommen scheinen. Handgemachte und authentische Musik mit Leidenschaft gespielt!

May ist in vielen verschiedenen Musikrichtungen unterwegs und im Dezember 2022 veröffentlichte er sein erstes rein instrumentales acoustic fingerstyle guitar Album „Endless Road“.

While combining Blues, Folk, Country and Rock, Chris May forges his musical bridge between Fingerstyle combined with his voice and often accompanied from Blues Harp, Didgeridoo and Stompbox. His songs include musical ballads about life, nature, love and sociocritical topics of our humanity. The songs remind of the organic side of nature, originating from the pulsating circulatory of life. 

December 2015 Chris May released his debut album „way beyond“ on which he colaborated with different guest musicians from all over the world. With different open tunings, Chris creates spherical sounds and earthy atmospheres, by using several fingerpicking, slide styles and a range of various, exotic guitars. Instruments like the Weissenborn Lapsteel guitar, the Dobro or the Banjo.

In july 2019 Chris May released his second studio album “Blue Rain”. It’s a high quality mix of rock and blues with influences from folk and country. While touring in Austria, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Ireland, Swizzerland, Chris May is playing shows on the MSHamburg. One of the smallest public cruise ships that exist. Inspired through the trips and shows on various and different parts of our planet in 2022, Chris has now released his instrumental fingerstyle guitar EP called Endless Road.
