Chris May – Handgemachte Songs zwischen Erde und Himmel

Chris May ist ein Singer-Songwriter und Gitarrist aus Salzburg, dessen Musik in der Tiefe wurzelt und zugleich weite Horizonte öffnet. Mit Einflüssen aus Blues, Folk und Rock erzählt er Geschichten vom Unterwegssein, vom Leben und von der Suche nach Freiheit. Seine charakteristische Spielweise – ein dynamischer Fingerstyle und gefühlvoller Slide – formt zusammen mit Mundharmonika, Didgeridoo und rauer Stimme einen Sound, der sowohl erdig als auch atmosphärisch ist. Ob sozialkritische Ballade, rhythmischer Roadsong oder introspektives Instrumentalstück – Chris May trifft mit jeder Note den Nerv des Moments. Seine Musik ist ehrlich, roh und immer geprägt von echter Leidenschaft.

Neben zahlreichen Konzerten auf Bühnen im In- und Ausland ist er regelmäßig auch auf Kreuzfahrtschiffen unterwegs, wo er nicht nur performt, sondern auch Musikworkshops aller Art gibt.

Mit bislang vier Studioalben, darunter dem aktuellen Live-Album Ramblin’ Man (Screamrecords, 2024), hat sich der Musiker nicht nur als Songwriter, sondern auch als vielseitiger Live-Performer etabliert. Ramblin’ Man ist ein musikalisches Reisetagebuch – ein Soundtrack für Suchende, für Liebhaber des Unperfekten, für alle, die das Echte suchen.

Chris May is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Salzburg whose music is deeply rooted yet reaches toward wide horizons. Drawing on influences from blues, folk, and rock, he crafts stories about life on the road, the search for freedom, and the human experience. His distinctive style—a dynamic fingerstyle combined with soulful slide guitar—blends seamlessly with harmonica, didgeridoo, and his raw, expressive voice to create a sound that is both earthy and atmospheric. Whether it’s a socially conscious ballad, a rhythmic road song, or an introspective instrumental, Chris captures the essence of the moment with every note. His music is honest, raw, and always driven by genuine passion.

Chris is a seasoned live performer, regularly touring across Europe and performing on cruise ships such as the MS Hamburg, where he not only captivates audiences with his concerts but also leads a variety of music workshops—from guitar techniques to songwriting and collaborative playing. With four studio albums to date, including his latest live album Ramblin’ Man (Screamrecords, 2024), Chris May has firmly established himself as both a songwriter and a versatile live artist. Ramblin’ Man serves as a musical travel diary—a soundtrack for seekers, lovers of imperfection, and those who crave authenticity.

From his debut album Way Beyond (2015), featuring collaborations with international musicians, to the richly textured Blue Rain (2019), blending blues, rock, and folk, and his instrumental fingerstyle EP Endless Road (2022), inspired by his journeys around the world, Chris May’s work reflects a continuous exploration of sound and storytelling. Whether on stage or sailing the seas, his music invites listeners on a journey between earth and sky.
